DESCRIPTION:A very unexpected offering to create a unique group of sound sculptures to accompany a public pixelation art party at the Broadside! I have very little idea of what to expect from the art situation\, but it sounds wild and compelling. I also do not know what to expect from the exceptional collection of sound sculptors that I have put together for the evening\, crossing many boundaries they are. \nThe Juno award-winning trumpeter and world music fusion pioneer David Buchbinder has been a fixture in Toronto for nearly 40 years\, recently maintaining an underground presence in New Orleans. Joshua Smith is a marvelous saxophone player whose career was based in Cleveland and the Bay area\, a founding member of the very influential progressive jazz trio “Birth” out of Cleveland\, and also recently maintaining an underground presence in New Orleans. Anchored (or untethered?) they will be our old pal and unique instigator Will Thompson (aka “WATIV”) on keyboards\, computers and more. \nMy understanding is that there will be two short sets of music\, the first one beginning around 8:00 p.m. However\, those details are fluid\, the event is free and open to the public and is listed as beginning at 7:00\, and I have every reason to believe it will be exceptional. Be there OR be somewhere decidedly-less-hip!

DESCRIPTION:Constantly defying classification\, THE RESIDENTS have been regarded as icons in the world of experimental music for almost fifty years. In addition to their groundbreaking work in the areas of trance\, world fusion\, electronica\, punk\, industrial and lounge music\, the group has also been credited with being among the originators of performance art and music video\, with their videos included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Their lengthy career has also taken them into the world of film and television music\, having scored numerous films and TV series as well as several projects for MTV. In addition\, the group is also thriving in the world of digital media having released ten DVDs\, and two internet series. \nThe evening will commence with a screening of THE RESIDENT’s Feature Film: \nTRIPLE TROUBLE\nTRIPLE TROUBLE\, the long awaited first feature film from The Residents\, San Francisco’s premier underground band since 1972\, is now available for screenings at festivals\, theaters and clubs throughout the world. \nTriple Trouble tells the story of Junior Rose\, a former priest who lost faith in the church and became a plumber. Accompanied by Cherry\, an AI enhanced drone\, the plumber slowly gathers evidence to support a bizarre theory: a fungus plugging sinks all over the city is a threat to humanity. Emotionally isolated after a divorce and the death of this mother\, the former priest’s obsession swells at an alarming rate as his world slowly spirals out of control.
